I write medieval historical romances set in and around the Firth of Clyde as Mairibeth MacMillan. It's a stretch of coastline surrounded by an amazing natural landscape and with a strong sense of history. From neolithic graves to vikings to modern day sunsets, there's no shortage of inspiration here.
I also write dark romantasy set in and around Glasgow as Mairi MacMillan. The city will always hold a special place in my heart and I love exploring familiar features combined with more fantastical fairytale elements.
I enjoy wild-swimming in the lochs, but am equally at home in the bustle of the city or the chill of my local ice rink.
